This Q not really for me - but are ALL 25D dizzies the same in respect of the points mounting plate ? Mate with a Rover 2000 has stripped the hole for securing the points - I got the screw out for him, and said I would give him a plate from a Minor 25D . However on looking out spare dizzies yesterday - the points plate doesn't look the same as I remember his from a week ago.....anyone know?? He's expecting the spare plate on monday to get his car going again..... Plan B is to drill and tap his stripped plate to next size up -and I have all I need to do that - but it would be nice to know if the spare plate will fit.......

Roy, I believe the only difference with the serial numbers for 25D dizzies, relates to the different weights and springs below the base plate. The base plates are the same as far as I know.
Pilkie might be away at present ? The man who would know... is Martin Jay @ Distributer Doctor 01398 361 678.( A Triumph man..knowing you have a TR7 ) A nice guy and very helpful on the phone.

Thanks Bob - I've had a look at some Rover links - and they all LOOK the same...it's just my memory of the base plate he was waving about a week ago doesn't include the 'stepped down' part where the vacuum advance spring hooks on..... I stripped a 45D too in case he was mistaken about his dizzy type - but it's not the one either, I'm sure. Never mind - if all else fails - Plan B will get him going.......

Just to round it off - turns out they ARE identical. Base plate from Minor now in Rover 2000, and the old baseplate drilled/tapped and slightly larger screw fitted as a spare.. Rover 2000 owner v happy... :D
