GPO Van on Ebay

Post by Annie_1952 »

Saw this GPO Van on ebay.
I'm no expert at all on Morris Minors but wondered if the grill is correct, I thought they only had these on Series MMs and maybe very early series 2s. Can anyone also tell me the years they made the rubber winged vans. I saw one in Lutterworth last month and we stopped to look at it, it was such a treat to see one and it was a lovely example!
How would you go about getting a set of rubber wings?
Just curious.
No relation to the sale just interested in such a rare vehicle.

Grill correct for 53 - 54 but I think changed 55 - 56 so would have steel wings. Wrong bonnet and badges but easy to change.
Chassis number would identify correct year

Ask for Cab & Body nos. doesn't appear to have a chassis plate?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Rubber wings impossible to find but a pair of fibreglass lowlight ones could be made to work I think.

why not use a pair of steel lowlight wings?
When I can find them in the Netherlands, it should be possible to find them in the UK ;)[frame]Image[/frame]

There's a Lowlands festival in the Netherlands, perhaps there's also another for Lowlights?

a few weeks ago, I bought 3 for less than € 400, complete with front and inserts for the headlights...[frame]Image[/frame]

And with a little bit luck, a have the chrome insert for the grille also in a few weeks ;)

the RH is perfect, was NOS, never painted, the LH had 2 bad places.
The other LH wing is also repairable, something for later ;)
