While my cylinder head gently weeps

Post by mickeytwonames »

Apologies to George Harrison (RIP). What is the max you can/should torque a 948cc leaded cylinder head down to at temperature. I have mine at 44 ft lbs cold - there is still a slight weepage - seepage of oil?
Many thanks
Mickey

Use it torqued at 44 and keep an eye on it. Depending what gasket type you have it may well stop on its own

...I look at the waterpump, and notice it's turning...

Is it weeping water or oil? Oil only comes up to the head behind the bypass hose (roughly).

The copper gaskets are without doubt the gaskets to use. Fitted originally, of course, they do the job. I found the composite ones don't last long.
