Look at section K in the maint manual. I found the dimensions given in figure K3 to be my best guide. Get dimension C to 14.3 cm with the wheel off the ground and you will be there.

Sorry Just saw your message there. I've been out working on it for the past 2 hours. Thanks anyway.

Managed to get it at last. seemed to make sense once I had it off again. I guess I didn't realise that I'd accidentally lowered it when working on it earlier.

Thanks for all the advice Roy and everyone else. It drives like a dream now and no shuddering. I think it's slightly higher on the driver side than it was before but I'm happy enough with that. Very smooth even going over the 5 million speed bumps around my area which before I could only go over about 5mph.

Not a job I'd want to do again for a while though. Bloody exhausted but happy I've learned another piece of complex moggy trickery.

Let the suspension settle over these speed bumps for a couple of days - and then measure from ground to front wing. Ideally - driver side should be slightly higher - so it sits flat when driver is onboard !

I'll do that thanks. Where exactly on the front wing are you taking the measurement? To the highest point on the wheel arch it's just slightly shy of 26". To the lowest point on the side of the front wing (drivers side furthest left point on wing) it's 10". Does that sound about right? I'll double check both sides properly in a day or so anyway.

When I have had split pins like that I have drilled them out - using a dill bit which is approx the same dia as the thickness of one of the legs. Once you are though everything becomes free. You might need to start the drilling at an angle though

Good 2" lower at the other side though. Might crank it up a spline. Seems too lop sided.

Obviously needs to be level.....that could be TWO splines - but try one first.

Was thinking one spline would take it close to level but still leave the offside slightly higher to allow for lowering when I put my fat bum in the car

Try it and see - it's only a few minutes to raise it up a spline..........

Well it toook me a while to get a chance to look at this again but managed this afternoon. I've fiddled about with the torsion bars on each side and got it to a height of 26 and a half inches at the topmost part of the wheelarch on the front wings on each side. Is that too high or do you think that's stable enough? To be honest, will be glad to put this job to bed. It's been dragging on a while now.

That's how my car sits - I think it looks grand - will probably settle down slightly with use.

I just had it out for a test drive a minute ago. The driver's side is slightly lower than the other so I'll probably have to drop the passenger side a spline. It was fantastic going over the speed bumps around here. Previously hitting the bump stop thingys if I went over them faster than 3mph. Now able to go over them faster without that and no shuddering while braking.

Only thing is I can feel a faint bounciness as I'm driving along around 30mph. Like a very faint but constant bounciness. Does that sound like anything I should worry about or is that just moggy finally behaving normally?

Can't remember - did you fill the dampers with SAE 40 oil? Maybe they need topping up as air works it's way out of the damper. I wouldn't drop the passenger side - you know you can raise/lower the suspension in 1/4" increments using the multi-hole plate at the rear end of the T bar....?? Of course - it all tends to be a bit rusted up and 'not easy' to undo...

Hi, yeah I filled the dampers with the correct oil. I'll have another look at them tomorrow then.

Not sure on that other method of adjusting the suspension. Are the parts I'm looking to adjust anywhere on the exploded diagrams on the Moss website? I kinda use them as a reference.
