No the law hasn't changed with regards to towing - unless you are doing it commercially and have a combined MAM over 3500kg. Anybody who has a driving liscence can tow a trailer - but those who passed their driving test in 1997 or later are restricted in what they can tow, in MOST cases a 750kg trailer is fine. But, for example because of the combination of MAMs I could legally tow a fully loaded trailer plated up to 1200kg behind my focus.
I could go in to it in a lot more depth (I got my license in 2002 and I have spent A LOT of time looking at what can be done legally, and I have passed the trailer test now anyway) - but this isn't the place.
Good luck with the gearbox - are you pulling the engine and gearbox out together?

Matt, the gearbox and clutch change is on the '56 Series II traveller (I'm planning to drop the box).
Back to the '51 MM - another reason that I was glad I took the Transporter route as I have only just spotted the state of this bit of the fan belt[frame]

Also, since purchase, I've discovered a fuel leak from the carb - not sure which bit yet. All my problems and requests for help will be appearing on the MM Register forum.
Best Regards, George.
