behind front wheel filler instead of metal :(

Post by 1969morris »

Just found a massive hole full of filler instead of metal am new to moggies and have been to the show at Hilton, Bridgnorth today it wqs a steam rally but there were a couple of convertibles, couple of travellers and me there. Back to the point of the post I was digging around and un earthed this hole where metal should be is it repairable and whats best to do with it ? it is at the end of the sill by the start of the front wing?

Filler is luxury!
I've had cars where it was mostly crumpled newspaper!

A picture would help a lot.
Get a magnet and start checking other likely areas :(

Atypical minor rust area and typical bodged repair! I think you will find other REAPAIRS like this elsewhere if the bodgers have been at work sadly....

Think going round with a magnet would be depressing . Is a local repair ok on a moggie I am new to them am used to mgb's where patching isn't really strong or good enough is there a repair section or a point to cut back to that will make ita good repair? I hate bodging :(
Thank you for your pointers.
Will put a pic on tomorrow evening,

Take a look at this project - the photos are really good and show all the common rot areas and some very clever fixes;

Good luck!
That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

You may as well find the rot now - before you start the repairs. Or the car will end up like a patchwork quilt..........
