Oil filler cap

Post by hornmeister2000 »

Hi,

I recently bought a new oil filler cap for my 1970 saloon from a Minor specialist. However, it doesn't fit! It looks similar to my old one, but the holes that the 2 pins go into don't seem to be low enough so although it will go into the hole, it won't turn and lock into place.

Is there more than one type, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Neil

I had the same problem a few months ago. I suspect tat someone made a batch of caps that aren't quite right. I got mine swapped for anoher, which althogh VERY tight to turn, did fit. It's the same old problem that modern spares are not made to the same specification as the originals. Assuming that your rocker cover is standard, ask your supplier for another cap. Good luck.
