Roof insulation

I'm about to fit the headlining to my traveller and am thinking of fitting some type of insulation.

Has anyone done this? And if so what would you recommend ?

Well, certainly it needs something up there to keep the roof from making a "drumming" noise. If you're looking for sound insulation, there are various possibilities -- Dynamat, etc. -- but Minors originally came (at least the saloons did) with a thin layer of horsehair glued on with bitumen. It works. In restoring my Mog, I replaced the horsehair with a thick batted material, similar in concept to carpet padding but much denser.

If it's heat insulation that you need, I have used those sun reflective styrene and silver foil shades meant for covering your windscreen on hot sunny days. They cost only a couple of dollars, are very light, and I slid them above the head lining, just before the trimmer secured the last section of the head lining. The interior is much cooler now....David.

Well i've finally finished insulating the roof and even without the headlining fitted it makes a huge improvement.
I first covered the roof with dynamat which stopped the drumming and heat. Then I added 6mm dynaliner to absorb sound.

Not cheap, but worth it as it's going to be my daily drive when its finally back on the road.

Looks excellent! That Dyna-stuff is out of my price range, but I know it's good quality, so you'll probably have years of drum-free driving.

How is the Dynamat with regard to heat? I'm in Florida, and my hearing is shot anyway, so I'm more concerned with heat than drumming.
Is the Dynamat a better insulator than the 1/4 inch aluminum coated bubble wrap?
