New noise...

Post by Arthurdaily »

Whilst messing with my vacuum advance, I noticed that my engine makes a sort of... rattle noise sometimes, not when revved steadily or anything, or at idle, but just when starting to rev. I can't detect where it's coming from. Oil pressure is around 5060 psi during rev, compression 160 + in each clylinder, timing generally okay I think, mixture good (brown plugs)... what could it be?

Please say the timing chain!

I have videoed it using new videographing-camera techn knowlogee.

Here is the ewe toob link:

You can hear it well from 20 seconds into clip...

- is that based on the you tube clip? Just wondering if anybody else could actually see it.. Ithought you could only get pinking when driving and engine under load? I have, however, been messing with the advance ...

Did you play the clip Lee? I will try a little retardation tomorrow and see what happens... whilst blipping the engine with the vacuum tester on. I shall then report back!
