Hi everybody,
I'm from Germany and have to make an important comment !!!
I have seen all Minor enthusiasts using this "Waxoil" stuff for undersealing.
Even the professional traders are using this horrible undersealing!
I know restoring cars since a long time.
The problem of the Bitumen based Waxoil stuff is, that it is ageing!!!
The surface gets cracked after years and moisture is getting in and not out again !!!!
I saw a lot of cars with old waxoil coats. As I scraped this stuff down, there is
a lot of surface rust on bare metal !!! This can not withstand for long!!!
So please: If you have a rust free car just take normal paint for the underneath.
(White is great, as you can see little places of starting rust or rot !!)
To underseal the underneath you can take "Perma Film" ! This is from "Hodt".
It's American, but you can buy it in Germany (Hamburg).
Maybe you have it in UK too!??
"Hodt" does have another perfect product.
It is called "Fluid Film" and comes out of practical 400ml spray bottles with nozzle
(20cm and 60 cm !!!!)
This is the best and easiest way to treat cavities (inner sills, doors, all areas between....)
This stuff is tested hardly (salted water tests for 2 years !!!)
Just renew the treatment each 4-6 years and be happy about a rustfree car for ever!!!
There is one more application I want to mention:
"Mike Sanders" hollow space grease!!
This application gives you "livetime guarantie" and is the best you can get.
But its not so easy to handle with.
You need a cooker and special tools to bring the grease in !!
Hope I could help !!
And please: Don't take the bitumen scrap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guido
solve the rust problems forever !!!

Re: solve the rust problems forever !!!
Hi again,
one mention !!
To recover cars with old bitumen sealing is possible,
but a lot of work.
You need a ramp, because you have to scrape all the old bitumen stuff down
using a scraper.
Remove the surface rust a best a possible.
Then saturate the surface rust with "Ovatrol" (not the wood treatment!!)
There is a Ovatrol for metal treatment.
This Ovatrol surface is totally drying out.
You can use this surface for any kind of finishing you want!
I would take a underbody chip paint, or body paint and then "Perma Film" as explained above!!
Cheers Guido

Re: solve the rust problems forever !!!
Thanks for that indepth explanation but i think you'l find that there is also Waxoyl in a more liquid form that is basically , wax and oil mixed in plain terms and is translucent so that you can keep an eye on the areas covered and top up when required. It also has "creeping" properties so keeps the areas covered when scraped away by water, stone chips etc and is very easy to apply. There are one or two other brands that other owners have used on here that would be just as good as waxoyl ( if not better)? But i'm sure that all the members on this forum are gratefull for your input / advice, thanks.
