Secret Switch

Post by cheezy_munkey »

Hi,

I'm looking to fit a secret switch in Auld Mick as I'm really paranoid about him getting stolen. I've seen that this has come up a few times on here and that people have PM'd advice about it to maintain security about it.

I had a look at the document on this site under technical tips but I'm not really sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice they could PM me about doing it? I quite like the idea of it sounding the horn if the switch is in the wrong position.

Also, where could I buy a suitable switch? I imagine to make it sound the horn I would need a 2way switch. Is that right? I think a simple on/off switch would not suffice.

The document on here mentions "One of the most popular home made devices is to fit a switch in the low voltage feed from the ignition switch to the coil", not sure where that is? There's a thinner looking wire going from the ignition switch and appears to go to the alternator. Is that the one?

Anyhoo, any advice concerning where to obtain the switch and how to fit it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Paul. :D

No - that is NOT the wire...... Maplins will do you a 2 pole switch if you really want to go fancy.......most of us survive on a single pole switch.
