He always used to try it on the brake tester (in 2wd mode obviously) either to show me exactly which brakes were full of axle oil and not doing anything, or more likely because he didn't fancy driving it down the road.... It was that sort of vehicle. Eventually the wiring caught fire and I had to drive it 100miles or so home with no electrics and the battery safely disconnected (diesel so it still ran). I then dismantled it to rebuild it and its still in bits waiting its turn. Probably safest for all.
