Now i have read pretty much every topic/post on this already and have read all the options...

What i'm looking for now is just 1 answer for my needs.

It will live in a garage but used in all weather conditions, i don't mind re-varnishing oiling every other year or whatever...

So please don't scorn me too much But i really need some advice!

Have you got any photos of the rear of your traveller ?? so we can see the condition of the wood...

Ditto. You can "touch up" Danish oil every few months and it just soaks in. Doesn't require any removal of old varnish, just a gentle wipe with a cloth and it's as good as new.

Varnish just traps water - oil is best - teak or danish or whatever you fancy really - although linseed is very sticky......

Hi,

We have beech worktops in the kitchen and use Junckers clear rustic oil once a year. I apply one coat each year after a quick key with 180 grit paper on the sander and it comes up great. It is also be used on hardwood floors too. I must admit though I have not heard of anyone using it on minor wood

Thanks guys looks like i shall be buying some lovely oils..probably danish as teak looks really expensive...

Sorry to bring this back up but i have just read Ray Newell's book...he recommends against using Danish oil?! Instead using a mixture of Sikkens and cuprinol?!
