Having rebuilt the rear hubs back in January and being full of self doubt, I just want some of you experts out there to confirm that I have ( hopefully!) put the new rear hub bearings in the correct way?[frame]
As you may or may not be able to tell from the photo, the bearing spacer cage thingy is facing the road wheel. Is that correct? Also, the oil seal behind it has the channel facing toward the bearing.
In order to help eliminate the potential for oil leaks it is also my intention to run a bead of silicone gasket sealant (no doubt in contravention of the beliefs of all the purists!)on either side of the paper gasket, going around each stud as I do so.
Also, I intend to pack a reasonably good quantity of molybdenum grease into the bearing using a syringe ( of the curved nozzle type as used in various non motoring procedures!)
Comments please
I'm really just trying to see if there are any others out there stuck in front of the computer on a Saturday night!!
