Rubber rocker cover gaskets

I see on ebay that you can buy a rubber rocker cover gasket instead of the Cork type.

Although more expensive they say this can be reused.

Good investment?

Don't bother - the cork one can be (IS) used over and over again. Just glue it to the rocker cover - and don't overtighten.

Hi,
Sorry fans of cork but I swear by these rubber gaskets now, had one for months and I've had the lid off a few times, still no leaks.
When I next invest in a spare it will be rubber!

Cork = ten a penny bought bulk.

Rubber = expensive and let's not forget that oil is a natural enemy of rubber.

No, it sits in place quite nicely, no need for glue. I also find it more convenient to have it 'free' for when I need to remove the rocker cover (to do tappets etc.).

Never had a problem with this, plus I don't think £6.99 is expensive - see link below, especially as it's reusable.

Going purely by my experience, there may be a reason why cork ones are 'ten a penny'.........................
