Re: awful clatter
sorry did not read the message correctly re not posting on open forum- still I think I was most comassionate (and honest) with my remarks.
Re: awful clatter
Well not a problem as the company in question is no longer trading. I think they closed down around 8 years ago now - pity, as they were local to me so handy for picking up parts from.

Re: awful clatter
Same here for getting parts from them.
Never heard a bad word about their work, unlike another London firm that has ceased trading too.

I didn't really expect an answer......... it was a sort of rhetorical question.....
More of a dig at 'experts' rather than anything else. Advice like that - no wonder they went out of business......

Morning.
How come every one is saying 44lbs/ft torques when the manual says 40lbs/ft.

Re: awful clatter
Because - 44 is better! Later engines are actually specified at 50 ftlbf. But go on - use 40 if you want........

Re: awful clatter

Re: awful clatter and now jumping oy of fourth
Nearly a year on since I fixed it and not lost a drop of oil since. But now its jumping out of 4th when decelerating. Time to investigate the gear box. I have just got one off ebay to play with - a minor one as mine seems to be from a miget.

Re: awful clatter
The number on the side - starting with VA (I think) corresponded with the identification on a website talking about midget gearboxes. I just got a gearbox fron ebay to play around with and the id begins with MA - am I anywhere near right?
