Very nice looking rare lammy, a tad expensive for me.
Its now 'The Quiz of the Week' have a look at this minor bonnet on ebay, its the scooter, moped or perhaps lawn mower handle that I'm interested in. Thinking that I know it but just can't get a handle on it (sorry), please write your answers on a postcard and send to......................

I don't know if anyone has read all the listing but there's some interesting history if you scroll down, I assume it's factual.
Whilst on the subject of scooters, the series 3 lambretta to my mind is one of those rare objects that have achieved the perfect design, and no matter what, cant be improved upon visually and possibly any other way!

In my late teens I purchased a nearly new Clark Scamp for 25 pounds. You could not get anything more basic but I used to ride it everywhere. Living in the Cotswolds it had to put up with some serious hills but it would climb them all admittedly very slowly but it got me everywhere I needed to go and at very little cost. I have considered trying to to find one but have had no luck so far. For details on the scamp see www.icenicam.ukfsn.org/articles/artooo5.htm
I also had a Raleigh Runabout. The one where you are supposed to be able to pedal when the engine breaks down. One day the drive belt broke and the pedalling nearly killed me. The best moped I have ever had was the Puch Maxi. I used to do a round trip of 50miles twice a week on it to college and ride over the top of Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham as part of that journey. Happy days.

When you are saving to purchase your first house you will do anything to save money and at that time interest rates were 17 & 1/2 percent so maximising your deposit was the first priority. And yes I did have a leather A--e developed from many years of cycling. Would think nothing of doing 160 miles in a day. But back then I was so much younger/fitter and had a first class racing bike!

I remember the 18% interest rates ,almost broke me ,used to walk to work ,4 miles, leaving the car on the drive ,and when driving using ultra "econo" mode. No fun, fish fingers and beans ................etc

Never as fit as you :(
