Correct colours?

Post by Romek »

Hi,

Can anyone help me identify the correct paint colours (and suggest suppliers) for my 1969 Maroon Traveller? Googling seems to return 'Maroon B' but thought I'd double check. Also for originality, I can't seem to find the colours for the grille and wheels?

I'm a bit away from painting, but I'm planning to use Bondarust primer over bare metal as I finish each panel - do I need to use any particular base colour over the top?

Thanks!

If you can, get hold of a copy of Original Morris Minor by Ray Newell - all colour variations for all models are listed there. To maintain originality - if that's what you want to do - late 1000 Travellers in Maroon B (RD23) - the correct maroon for the year, would have had a Snowberry White (WT4) grille and gold coach line and dark silver wheels. The ref in brackets are the BL paint codes. Not too sure about suppliers but a good paint shop in your locality should be able to advise you. Good luck :D

Have you had a good look around to make certain it was originally that colour?
I did a Blue traveller with Repaint many years ago and it was a similar colour.
Looked very nice I must say :)

Just look under the dash and behind the trim, only a very thorough paint job recolours everything.
