dynamo / regulator problems

Post by GuidoDieringer »

Hi from Germany,

the batterie of my Traveller gets loaded with only 9 - 12 Volt.
(9 V idle).
I checked the current flow on the plugs already. It works fine.
Does somebody know what the problem is??
Is it the regulator?

Thank you

Guido

Have you tried with revs? Dynamo won't put any charge in at idle.

Does the red light go out? And yes - we need a volts reading with the engine held at good revs, and then again with the headlights and heater fan running - again at good revs. Most likely to be the brushes in the dynamo - but is the fan belt nice and tight.?

checked that!!
Voltage at revs is 12,5 Volt much too low!!

I think it's the brushes or the regulator.
Is the regulater adjustable?

Check the brushes first, the regulator box is usually reliable.

I agree - new brushes first. Then worry about the reg.
