Cylinder Head oddities

Post by gtt1951 »

It's me again, with another problem (?).
I'm posting up 2 pictures - the first is of a spare 803cc cylinder head (for my 803 project).
The second is the 1098 head that I'm currently working on.
Ignoring the absence of the rocker assembly on the 1098, what else do you see missing?[frame]Image[/frame]
Now the 1098 head[frame]Image[/frame]
How important is it to replace the missing items and should the engine have been run without them?
If I need them, where would I source them from, as I haven't spotted them on the usual suppliers websites?
Regards, George.

If you mean the little clips holding the collets don't worry about them.
In practice they aren't needed.

Phew - that's good to know (and that was the missing items - the clips).
Thanks MarkyB.
I must work out how to attach a signature to my posts ...

Thank you - I'm quite pleased with it. The head on the 803 engine I bought, separately, had been stored
for quite a while with no rocker cover on it!

The cast rockers are much sought after - they were fitted to the Copper S engine ! Clean them up and stick them on ebay with a £19.99 start price - don't mention 803, do mention Cooper S !

Hell's teeth! I've got a ton of those from various 803 heads lying about! Now if they were used on the Cooper S, I wonder why my old 803 is so slow??
