Paint Colour

Its been some time since I posted last as Ive not done much work on the Minor in the past 3 years. However as my daughter is close to passing her test and wants the Moggie Im being spurred onto getting it finished.

Its away to a friend for painting and I had always planned to paint it clipper blue (I even have the paint). However, suddenly my daughter has ideas and plans for the wee car and wants it Lilac.

Now she knows nothing about the history of the Minor so she has never heard of the Minor Million. When I showed here the colour she loved it.

So the question is should I change to please her AND is it OK to paint a non Million in that colour? What do people think?

very simply It's your car paint it what ever colour you want,as long as you don't try to pass it off as a million when selling ,it's fine

Remember recent newspaper reports that men and woman see colours differently,and men are from Mars .

Matt you made me laugh there - get her to buy the paint! I cant get her to load a dish washer let alone part with money. She is 18 and I cant wait until she is about 21 or 22. Maybe by then she will talk to me other than when she wants something!

I think I will go with the Minior Million Lilac. It will stand out more and as long as its original Im OK with it (Ive dabbled in the past with custom paint jobs and glad to say Ive grown out of that - that not to say its something not to be done).

But it will never be sold off as a Minor Million. In truth Ive no intent of ever selling it. Spend to much in blood and sweat rebuilding it.

I'm currently spending every evening in Hussy teaching Jack how to drive. He's being ably assisted by a driving instructor too but we're taking every opportunity to have a drive in it. I feel for you chap - terrifying isnt the word - don't do what I did and go for the handbrake when it looks dangerous - it does NOTHING! when the cars already moving.....

Thankfully he missed the other car by about 1 inch (my side), but by eck I was happy the seats are mustard coloured - hides many types of stains.......

He's getting better but its a hell of a challenge not to keep grabbing the wheel whilst he's looking down at the gear knob and veering to the right into oncoming traffic. This night time driving has helped that thankfully, as even if he does look down he can see bugger all anyway!

We found a large car park (back end of a Sainsburys/Tesco?Morrisons) to teach our 3 for the first few home lessons. Wait until most of the traffic has died down. This way there are less cars to avoid and fewer obstacles to bump into, it allows them to get used to steering and turning, and also to judge how long it takes to stop!

A small industrial estate after businesses have closed teaches them small road juntions.

Thats what my dad did with me Oh 30 years ago!

She has been having lessons for a year but shows no sign of going for her test. Dont even think she has applied for her theory test yet.

Dont think I'll have that much or a wait with the youngest. He wants my Lightweight Land Rover so he will be going for it just as soon as he is able.

Matt, I'll suggest the FB group to her. Maybe she will actually take an interest in the Minor rather than just looking at it as a free car.
