850 RWD engine?

I saw this engine and g/box on Ebay and noticed the engine serial number starts 8G. From what I've read but not sure, is this an 850? Although it does seem to be embossed '950' on the block.

Almost certainly the unit is a gold seal (factory reconditioned) engine. The numbers they used did not seem to follow the usual minor engine number pattern. The gold coloured tappet chest covers below the exhaust manifold and traces of gold paint elsewhere are possible clues. Interesting that it seems to have a red cylinder head - might indicate a later replacement from a Mini, 950 or 1098 MG Midget or possibly a 1.0 Metro
