Fan Blades

Post by jaguar68 »

Hi chaps,

Does the 1275cc engine need 4 fan blades when running with the standard 1098cc radiator? I've fitted an 82 degree thermostat, as it seems to be a fair compromise between the 74 and 88 degree thermostats I've seen stated on other forum post.

Any opinions?

Regards

John

Just the single(2 bladed fan) should be OK but running with two won't do any harm.

I would try with a single 2-bladed fan, using 2 blades giving a 4-bladed fan is very noisy! We did this on holiday in France many years ago, when the first electric fan failed in temperatures up to 40°C! I propably could have got away with just a 2-bladed fan, but didn't want to take the chance and then spend more holiday time adding the second fan blade.

Still in the boot, just in case!

You could of course fit the Spridget (or Marina) multi blade fan - but frankly the single blade fan should be enough.

What would be the consequences of running without a fan?
