Water Jacket for MM 918cc Sidevalve

Post by jennyl »

Does anyone have a water jacket/dynamo mounting going spare for Nelly's 918cc sidevale engine? I was only attempting to change the fanbelt and both dynamo mounting bolts have sheared! Known in the trade as a "just job". Hey ho!

Buy a new water jacket from ESM and run a 3/8 UNC tap through the mounting holes. Drill the mounting holes on the dynamo to clear 3/8 UNC bolts.

Thanks Mike, ESM want over £100 for a replacement jacket and I've found an engineering firm who are making a repair to the damaged one for £20 ish. All I need now is a new gasket and I've managed to obtain a sheet of gasket paper from which to make one. Thanks for your help. Chris

I thought that they were ONLY £80.
The gasket needs to have webs on it so that it goes through the centre holes, otherwise you will distort the jacket when you tighten the centre bolts
