Rocker cover rubber seal

Here's a photo of the rocker cover seal in rubber instead of cork. Will be tested at the weekend. It was just an experiment as one of my mates was having problems with the cork seals on both a mini and a moggy so I bought 1m² of 5mm NBR rubber. With the waste cut out of the centre there's enough rubber to make a set of tappet chest seals.

Will be interesting to see how effective it is. You usually get a slight weep with the cork gaskets, and they should generally be replaced every time the rocker cover is off to avoid oil loss. Rubber gaskets should be able to be degreased and re-used though... so will save me keeping a stock in the garage... keep us posted please.

Can't see the need - cork gaskets work perfectly well.......... I suspect the rubber will easily slide out from under - so better stick it down REALLY well to the cover before fitting!

Hi,
I've been using a rubber rocker cover gasket that is for 'A' series engines, since I bought off eBay in February this year.
I have to say that I prefer it to the cork ones now, it seems to work much better.
I haven't found any problems with it slipping, it also seals well without the use of any sealants!
And reseals well after I have had the cover off!

Thanks for the link-now I know roughly what the selling price would be! I was going to offer them for a fiver-after testing of course.
