I've re-read the op and it seems his teachers made the suggestion to fit modern injection and engine management to an older vehicle, so find an old vehicle that has none of the former gear, remove the same from a vehicle that has (even if it's from a later version of the same engine, and fit) and assuming they will mark the finished work, that must be the way to go. In which case a Minor is as good a choice as any. Call the project what you will. I reckon he's already started, as we've not heard from him again. :D

Or all the Victor Meldrews have frightened him off...

There was a short series in Practical Classics magazine a few years ago where they fitted the 'canems' fuel injection system to an A40 Farina. Might be worth seeing if you can get hold of a copy, as IIRC it also included some rolling road tests comparing power and torque before and after the conversion. Obviously there is Megasquirt, for which you'd probably be better off asking on a Mini forum. Failing that, it would be interesting to see if one of the Rover injection systems from the 90s could be fitted to a Minor.
