" pancake air filters "
Has anyone any experience of this type of air filter, and are they worth cosidering ? As they can be washed and re-used they seem attractive as this cuts costs, but are they any good ?

The foam ones are generally junk, nice and shiny, but junk nevertheless.
The others are expensive and noisy also unlikely to improve the performance of the engine unless a lot of other work has been done first.

The old 'pancake' filter is hopeless. The face opposite the carb intake must be at least 1.5 X the diameter of the carb intake away from the carb face. The old pancakes are too close and obstruct the airflow....... The more modern 'K & N' type are much better. But won't make any significant difference to an otherwise standard Minor engine........
