Made an erse of my indicators

Hi there,

As above, I'm replacing the front wings on my moggy 2 (1955) saloon. I'd taken both wings off weeks ago and disconnected the headlights, sides and indicators from them. I marked up with tape which wire went to which.

I finally got one of my wings back from the bodyshop today and started fitting it. When I connected it together the headlight and the side light were working but not the indicator. The back indicator was working though. Foolishly, I wondered if I'd wired the thing backwards and tried it the other way around. Ooops. Now none of the indicators are working. Must've blown something. I thought perhaps a fuse but I could only find three fuses and none of them were blown. Any ideas anyone? Is there a fuse somewhere that I don't know about or have I broken the wee flasher thing?

Also, any ideas why the indicator didn't work in the first place? Could it be because the other front indicator hadn't been reconnected yet?

It certainly doesn't need the 'other' indicator...... The indicator will need a good earth if it's to work. Probably has blown the flasher - remove it temporarily and join the wires together to get the light to work (but obviously it won't 'flash')........

A 55 car would not have had indicators originally so who knows how they have been wired. If done properly they should be wired through the ingition fuse, so if the wipers and brake lights work then the fuse is ok. There should only be two fuses in the fuse box so you have an extra.
If you have the correct flasher unit then you need the front and rear indicators to work for it to flash correctly although the bulb will still light.
Check that you have the same colour wire connected to the OSF as OSR and NSF as NSR and check that the lights are properly earthed
