Emission Readings

Re: Emission Readings
Crikey - they are WELL off. I suspect the lambda sensor is not working. Probably best to get on the Ford Forum and ask there......

Re: Emission Readings
Could be the lambda sensor or the cat but if the engine / cat is not HOT you will not get low enough readings to pass.

Re: Emission Readings
Presumably the engine was at the correct temp for the test. Would I be throwing money into a bottomless pit, I know that cats are expensive?

Re: Emission Readings
You cannot assume the engine was at the correct temp. As said already, you need to give it a darn good blast to clear it out first (the high hydrocarbon reading is due to unburnt fuel which is synonymous with a sooty engine). Then make sure it goes on the tester hot (and not just after once round the block). Cats and Lambda's not necessarily too expensive if you shop on the internet. The last CAT I replaced on a Freelander was around £65 all in delivered....
