Actually Dennis - if you really are doing that sort of mileage, you may be one of the very few who would benefit from an unleaded head. But if so far the gaps are not closing up significantly, don't bother!

i do between 300 and 400 miles a week in the moggie
so far the gaps seem ok

i do have an unleaded head in the garage but so far not fitted it

Sell it to someone with the unleaded jitters then! Mine is also thrashed mercilessly around the same sort of mileage/week, and (slapped wrists) I haven't even checked the valve gaps since.....oh, I don't know when!
(Just getting my well worn dunces hat on to go to and sit on the naughty step for what my quasi-fashionable Wife would refer to as "time-out")
PS: are there any grease points on a Moggy? :D

i do 75 miles one way part dual and the rest motor way twice a week and the rest to work

do i thrash it :D :D :D nahhhhhhhhhhhhh

The Haines Manual says to set the exhaust and inlet gap at 12 thou not 15 and 12 thou?

Yea - Haynes is ALWAYS right - that's why the Mini lads call it HBOL - Haynes Book of Lies...... Do it that way if you think Haynes know better...... :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol:

No i don"t necessarilly think haines no better. And really Respect your advice too.

I always thought that was because of the phrase "refitting is the opposite to removal" :lol:
