tie plate
This is what I found when I removed the servo... not a pretty sight! I guess it'll be off to the welders after I've refitted the brakes (back to original servo-less layout) so that it can get an MOT! I presume it's acceptable to weld in just half a tie-plate? The half over the chassis leg feels solid.

Re: tie plate
Yes its ok to replace part of the panel, chances are when you start to cut it out you will have to replace about the bottom 2' of the flitch extension panel and possibly bottom of the inner wing as well.
Too many Minors so little time.....
