beware cheap accu spark distributor points

Post by T100SS »

I bought an accu spark for my 1098. Typically I let time slip before I fited it. A week later the car cut out - the points had closed (yes I'd checked them after installing the dizzy and yes I lubed the lobe).

A week later he same thing happened. Te times betwen them closing has lengthened but these so-called super quality red things aren't in my experience. I messaged the vendor whos reply was at best dismissive. The dizzy is still functioning OK and I don't believe the points were jammed or in some way disfunctional due to my intervention. I suppose if you want a chap dizzy carry spare points.

I suggest you have sheared all but one head bolts off by over-torquing them. Probably bent a pushrod or two as well. Thats what comes of using fancy cylinder heads

Well it wasn't a good start to the day anyway, when my Thomas Tank Engine cereal bowl suffered a heavy shunt and ended up in two pieces...... And the day certainly hasn't improved since........
