1098cc engine knock

Post by Tom1789 »

Hi, so last week i could smell a oil burning checked oil didnt read on dipstickso i topped it up, next day i drove it started knocking at high rev's
suspected shells, big end bearings, most had copper showing one was half worn out so replaced shells crank wasnt scored
put it all back togeather now i have a knock on tickover wich nearly stops in high rev's but has no power
checked cam and it has a small chip but shouldnt affect it

so now im stuck to what it could be anyone had similar problem before?

Thanks, Tom

Obviously running with no oil on the stick hasn't done it any good. The rings may be seized in the pistons. Can only suggest a compression check as the first step to diagnose the problem.
