leaking fuel pump!
My local garage have told me that the fuel pump on my 67 4 door is leaking - and when I asked 'where from?' - they said that they didn't know but there was fuel on the pump itself and that I would need to buy a new one. Any ideas/thoughts on this guys & gals?

That was a fair question and the reply wasnt helpful.the fuel pump on my 67 4 door is leaking - and when I asked 'where from?' - they said that they didn't know but there was fuel on the pump itself
Are the pipe connection`s OK as the outlet one to the carb is often replaced with the non reinforced type that dont last as long and can leak with age, its also unusual to see fuel on the pump as normally any leaks will drip of the pump, I had one earlier last year and that was a caused by a tiny crack in the lower casing but it took a while for me to track it down as I could not see where it was coming from until it got worse but this is quite rare and I dont think anyone on here had come across it before.
Cheers

similar to kevin - the pipe connections are the most likely leak points, and maybe the filter? Unless the leak is coming froma a cracked pump body (rare) then you need to have a go at it before buying a new one.
Bull Motif did have SU pumps on special if you do go for a new new one, rather than a second hand one.
