Leak propshaft to gearbox and diff

Hi,

Noticed leaks and wonder which parts i should order to solve this.
For the front i should think : 10G198 & 10G199 (Bull Motif ref)
For the back : 1G7439, 88G320, BTB440 (Moss ref)

It's just the anti-rust system in operation. As long as you keep the box and diff oil levels up - I strongly urge you to leave well alone ! Neither job is particularly easy to do...........

AS Roy has mentioned-a rather difficult task.
The gearbox oil seal can be replaced but there's not much room with the gearbox in the car and it could be a tight fit. You'll probably need a chisel to remove it.
The rear leak is not so easy and it might be easier to replace the complete diff rather than trying to replace the pinion oil seal. The nut on the pinion (see photo below from a similar experience this Wednesday) is torqued to 140 ft-lb and difficult to remove. You can run into a lot of problems with repairing or trying to repair differentials. The photo shows the oil leak on a fully reconditioned 3.9 diff!

The gearbox tailshaft seal renewal, as mentioned is difficult whilst on the car, mainly because the housing containing this seal is tapped firmly onto the cylindrical end of the gearbox. If you are flexible enough though it is possible, one tip I have (from experience!) when tapping a new seal/housing onto the gearbox smear a film of sealant around the cylindrical end as often it is not only the seal that leaks but oil finding it's way between the metal to metal contact of gearbox to seal housing, the gearbox end often suffers scuffs etc over time allowing oil to seep. It may be tricky but what do you want, an oil leak or not. No pain no gain

Problem is - the REAL reason for a gearbox tail leak is likely to be a worn bush in the tail housing..........and that means box out to fit new bush and then ream to size.......and then fit the new seal. So - live with the leak is my advice unless it's desperate............
