7.6mm valve-face on 12g940

Post by hanvyj »

This caught my eye:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220965863388? ... 430wt_1397

as an upgrade for my 1098. I messaged the guy and he said the valves were "about 7.6mm from the head face", I am to understand the ideal is 7.8 - would I have to sink them to fit it?

The ideal is 320 thou ~= 8mm. You might 'get away' with 7.8mm - but at 7.6mm you are on collision course. So yes - sink them by 20 thou and you will be safe - provided of course you use a standard lift cam and standard ratio rockers........

Thanks, I was unaware 7.8 was already the limit and 8 the ideal! Cheers, standard cam and rockers are the plan.
