carpet fitting

hi, im in the middle of fitting new carpets .Can anyone tell me should there be anything between the carpet and the base of the the seat where the seat rests or does the rear of the seat simply rest on the bare carpet !!!

The rear feet of the seats just rests on the carpet

It's normally a rail rather than feet. Some people wrap the rail or put extra carpet etc. in order to protect the carpet from the rust stains (that most car have).

Buy a set of Minor car mats and the back of the seat will rest on the rear footwell mats. They will also protect your new carpets.

As above - shove a rubber mat under the arms.

cheers guys :D thought there should have been some sort of hard plastic resting place but a rubber matt will do the trick
