I know that the fuel guage sender fitted to cars with the late-type black speedo won't work with earlier gauges, but will the 948-type sender work with an early Series 2 (or MM) gauge?
I've managed to source a working early Series 2 gauge, but the car has a tank & sender from a late Minor. Will the sender for the bronze-face speedo (late '54-'64) work with my gauge, or is the sender for my gauge unique to earlier cars?
Fuel gauge sender compatability.

Re: Fuel gauge sender compatability.
I fitted a 6 1/2 gallon tank to my Series MM, as far as I remember complete with sender unit. The only slight problem was that either I could not get the fuel pipe out of one of the tanks or it was a different thread. It was 30 years ago so memory a bit hazey. Anyway I had to cut the fuel pipe and join the two sections with a length of flexible pipe. The gauge read just over 3/4 when full and empty with nearly a galllon in the tank which gave a reserve. There are a couple of adjuster screws on the back of the gauge so that the readings can tweaked
