The one on my green minor (push on terminals) wasnt always charging and I tried another I had which looked almost new though didnt work. I tried yet another and it worked straight away. The lowlight had also stopped charging when last driven and I had 3 spare screw in terminal regulators and none of them work.
Is there anything that can be done to repair a regulator/cut out? It seems a shame just to bin them all. I also have one of the early ones that has the built in fuse bit to fit the lowlight and new ones cost £125+vat, is there a way to test them or simply just a case of fitting them to see if they pull in?

Faulty Regulator?
Too many Minors so little time.....
Re: Faulty Regulator?
Just clean the contacts with v fine glass paper and check the 'flaps' are free to move easily. They are very simple/basic devices.

Re: Faulty Regulator?
The workshop manual goes into great detail on checking and adjusting both the screw and spade terminal control boxes but says nothing about repairing them. Like you I have a collection of faulty control boxes.
One solution to reduce the problem is to fit alternators where appropriate.

There's nothing much to go wrong with them - they are only coils of wire, and moving flaps with contacts. the key is the cleanliness of the contacts......
