Radiator recore Costly!

Checked out my spare radiator looked in a sorry state decided to have it recored, selected a few local radiator repair companies.
Asked for quotes £120 to ..£175 chose the £175 one although the place looked like a blacksmiths from the last century
The type of place I would like to work in.. I explained it was from an (old car) I was restoring
no waterpump thermo syphon, do you want extra fins to make it cooler?
With that he pulled out a very thumbed manual measured the radiator and then said pointing to a section is it a Morris MM?

£175 + vat = £210 this Includes taking dents out and extra fins, is this a reasonable price?

ESM list a sidevalve radiator recoring service for £105, thats probably plus vat and carriage.

Personally I like the idea of having the radiator done locally, then if it leaks you can take it back and get it sorted more easily and quickly.

I had 2 1000 radiators recored last year and it was £50 each. The core on my sidevalve looks the same as the 1000 one, after all its only bigger at the top. I may be wrong but I think a 1000 should fit into it. Mike Perry may have the answer?

Had a phone call radiator ready to be collected... I delivered it on Friday ready Wednesday core blimey that was fast!!!
Cost mostly down to VAT at 20% daylight robbery. Although it's a spare rad going to have to fit it to test..

The Series MM and M1000 cores are the same size, the header tank base is bigger on the MM. I had a new core a couple of years ago, I think the cost was about £120.
The first problem I remember was when the seam around the header tank blew out on the M4
