camshaft

Post by win »

Hi
A colleague wants a 1098 camshaft, I have one, but it has some pitting but no wear on the cams.
Would this be serviceable, and what do the 2 rings in the casting mean.

Regards Win

S'pose it depends what the college want it for - if its to show students what a camshaft looks like then fine - or, if it's to show students what a camshaft shouldn't look like then that's fine too. Would be very wary of actually using it in the car though! Maybe it can be converted into a lamp pedestal for the office desk

Mmm - OK - one of the camshaft posts in this thread mentioned 'college' the other 'colleague'. I'm guessing now its colleague so I join the wise heads in saying best to consign that camshaft to Room 101 - never to turn and lift a valve in anger again - RIP
