Paint Scheme

I have a 1961 MM Traveller that I am restoring. When I bought it the rear panels were flat black. I can't find anywhere that this was the origianl color. Does anyone know it a flat black was a standard oaint scheme or have these panels been painted this color.

I guess by "flat" you mean matt then either someone painted them or they have oxidised over the years or both. Gloss black was of course a standard colour. Try buffing them up with some polishing compound!
