Temperature Gauge

Post by Tes 1 »

Hi All.I am fitting a temp gauge(new smiths electrical)and although i have read on the web how to fit one. the web sites appear to only cover the mechanical type(capillary). So my question is how do i fit an electrical temp gauge when there is no voltage stablizer on the rear of the speedo as i believe that the early minors(mine is a 1956 model) did'nt fit a voltage stablizer.I have ordered a temperature sender unit for the cyl head(matched to the Gauge).fitted just below the thermostat.and a stablizer.does anyone know how to wire it up.Cheers.

You wil need a voltage stabiliser - Either buy one from the usual suppliers or Maplins sell a kit to make one. You need a 10V feed for the gauge.....

See the wiring diagram at the head of this section..... Basically - green wire feed to stabiliser , light green feed from stabilser to gauge. Gauge and stabiliser must be earthed. Guessing you must have a 1098 engine (or at least head) if you have a hole for the sender!
