Steel Pattern wings or Geniune Heitage???

I'm looking for a new set of front wings, i'm looking at the geniune heritage and the steel patter. I can see that the steel pattern ones are cheaper than the heritage. I was just wondering are the steel pattern ones just as good? Are they the same thickness as the heritage one? I hear that there the same thickness just a bit harder to line up?? is this true?? or are the steel pattern pnes just crap?? thnx alot

The pattern wings are quite a bit harder/almost impossible to line up properly without a lot of effort.

If you can afford if go for the heritage ones.

the patter wings are alright the 1 i had fitted alright just needed bending a bit where u put bolts in but other than that no faults

genuine bmc wings are good

tho a lot of folk would go for good second hand

I used heratige on both front and back, the metal I believe is 1.2mm as opposed to the 1mm repros.

Just dont lay them on the drive in the sun to warm up a little prior to painting, your wife might just reverse over them when she returns from the weekly food shop as mine did - nearly ended in devorce

Managed to salvage one with a bit of fettling with a hammer , but not perfect, may decide to replace lat a later date when the wallet is a little fatter The other was used for patch repairs around other parts of the car that needed a bit of a curved shaping.

Pattern ones are really thin - more 22g rather than 20/ Heritage ones are a good 20g and are noticably heavier. Also they don;t have the razor sharp edges round the wheel arches that you only find as it sinks into the palm of your hand....
Having said that, pattern wings are a much better fit these days than a few years back, cost about half the price af a heritage wing and last well when painted and protected properly. So you get what you pay for and its up to you and your budget.

Well, yes I suppose thats a valid point! the chances of dinging one and the cost of replacement would also suggest pattern wings for that use.
