I'm Tom, I'm 21 and I've had about 8 driving lessons up to now but when I pass my test I'm deeply considering getting a Minor 1000. The reason being it seems to be one of the only financially viable options for new drivers, plus it's an excellent example of British engineering and a very rare sight round Doncaster where I live.
This being the case I'd appreciate some advice on how different the Minor is to drive compared to a modern car and what to look out for when buying and running one.
Not to detract from the wealth of information you will receive on here but there is a Young Members Register and most of the chit-chat between the younger members (who could perhaps give you more information about owning/running/insuring and older car as a younger person) happens on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MMOCYM/).
Just request to join and I'll add you to the group

Hi tom and welcome to the forum ,it would be great if more people your age got into these lovely old cars in my opinion . good luck with the lessons. gav
Evening Tom and welcome! My son (23) has bought a saloon and also just collected a traveller to restore earlier today. He got hooked when he found out just what a brilliant day to day car my traveller is. It's my main and daily transport! Through the club insurance his costs about £160 for his moggie and his 1954 series one land rover - so as you rightly say very affordable motoring for young people! Can't recommend them enough and the club and forum are great!
