Re: Horn on permantley
Must be a short in the wiring to the button - pull the purple/black wire off the horn - does it still sound ?

Re: Horn on permantley
Roy is spot on as always, so you are looking for a chaffed/ pinched /damaged piece of wiring.Around the steering colum / under the dash area is the usual culprit.Have you done any work there recently ,which might have disturbed it ? If just the insulation is damaged, you can repair with a bit of electrical tape.

I'm no expert but If you disconnect the purple wire behind the dashboard (flaw in this plan is there might be another purple wire for the interior light) wouldn't that find out where the earth is happening?
- If the horn stops the problem is with the steering wheel connections/horn push
- if it doesn't stop its between the dashboard and the horn
- If the horn stops the problem is with the steering wheel connections/horn push
- if it doesn't stop its between the dashboard and the horn
Re: Horn on permantley
If the short was on the purple wire it would blow the fuse and the horn would NOT sound..... The purple/black wire is the culprit.....

Re: Horn on permantley
It must have worked - with the purple/black wire off the horn - it can't possibly blow! Is this the case? To remove wheel etc - first disconnect the battery. Remove horn push - loosen the nut - then tug the wheel (or bang it from below) to free it on the splines - then remove the nut and pull the wheel off.
