Hi everyone
I was planning to borrow the battery from my Vauxhall Astra to use in my Morris until I can get a replacement, but wanted to make sure the Astra battery won't fry the Morris electricals.
The Astra battery is a Halfords HCB063, with 440amps starting power - according to the label. Can't see any other markings/specs.
The Morris is negative earth and has a dynamo.
Does anyone know if this would be OK?
Thanks all
Is this battery OK for a Morris?

You can't have too much battery, it can't fry the electrics! I have an 063 on my Moggy, fits fine- go for it!

As long as it has the correct posts, the right way round then any 12V battery that fits in the battery tray will do

I am using a battery where the posts were the wrong way round but I have to be very careful doing the clamps up in case I short the battery to the edge of the battery box with the spanner, but it works fine.

Until you go over a sharp bump - or do an emergency stop...... better to turn the battery around.

Or fit a rubber sheet such as an old floor mat behindbmcecosse wrote:Until you go over a sharp bump - or do an emergency stop...... better to turn the battery around.
