Glove Box help!

Post by DollyMonster »

Hi Guys!
I'm slightly new to Moggy ownership and right now after fixing the horrific amounts that have gone wrong with Betsy ,( MM 1000 1969 2 door saloon), I'm now tackling the few interior bits that need doing. The glove compartment on the drivers side looks like its missing a panel on it, I've seen a few others and know its not a proper lid but an open panel (? only way I can describe it?). Does anyone know what it's actually called so I can look into getting the missing part? Orrr even better if anyone has one (pref. trafalgar blue! But can re-spray if needs be :P ) laying around that they're willing to sell would be great!
Thanks!!

Dolly & Betsy

Which side of the car are we talking about? If I recall correctly, post '62, the glove box behind the steering wheel does not have a cover. Could you post photos?

Your are correct about the open enclosure (if that makes sense). I suppose that "Glovebox surround" would be a good description. Not available new, but Pop's Place in Lowestoft (they moved there recently, so watch out for old references to their previous address) is a good source of used parts.

Haha makes more sense than how I put it ! Oo thanks for the tip I'll be sure to follow it up! It's really bugging me as it makes her otherwise lovely interior look messy :(

Ah, I see what we're talking about now! Yes, simmitc is right on the money there. May have to do a little painting on a secondhand part to get it to match that lovely Trafalgar blue in there.

Hi Dolly, welcome to the messageboard :D It's worth posting an ad in the 'wanted' forum as someone here might have one. They also come up on ebay but none on there at the moment.

Painting is no problem to me :P there's a few bits Betsy needs doing... like where I'll have to patch the fiber glass on the bumper... she broke down, they thought it was steel when they threw the tow bar on.. sure you can fill in the rest :P
Thanks hun! I will do for sure! Now I've got a better way of wording it I won't sound like a mad person.. well I hope! hehe!

You also have the wrong glove box liner on the driver's side. The glove box surround has the same profile as the lid on the other side and the liner should protrude into the surround.

Thanks hun! It's something else that badly needs sorting. Sadly her last owner appeared to be totally clueless with cars! Good with dodgy M.O.T's though may I add :/ lol
