Noise situation

I know this may sound bizzare, I am trying to do some bodywork repairs, and am starting to upset the neighbours with the noise eminatting from the garage.

Is there a quiter way to cut metal out, currently using grinder and body saw.

Best to do it at 3am when they are all sleeping.........

Tin snips are quiet - until you catch your finger anyway.

Hacksaw if you can get it into the spaces. Get a decent quality blade and it will cut a lot better than the cheap and nasty own brand blades.

I always make sure I close windows and doors when I'm grinding/ cutting and stop by 9.30PM at the latest.

Have had no complaints from neigbours.

Wine and chocolate seems to make them more understanding

Are you using 1mm cutting blades?
With practice these should give the most cutting for the least noise.

If the grinder is a bit knackered, and the brushes are sparking it may well be interfering with people TVs too.

At the end of the day it's better to have some consideration for your neighbours, you will gain nothing by antagonising them.

Best to go and see them explain what you are doing and that evenually the job will become quieter,and get an agreement on which times of the day would be best for them,be warned if they complain to the council,you will end up being stopped dead in your tracks and need to find alternative premises to finish the job.I think I would object to a grinder going late into the evening,and yes some tools do cause interference my old mig used to do the same to next doors tv ,new ones ok .
