Don't other cars nowadays have an "anti-diesel" valve? It's an electrical valve in the carburetter (for those without fuel injection) which is linked to the ignition, stops the fual when you turn the engine off.

My F reg VW beetle had one (and a right so & so when it was duff - enginne wouldn't tick-over, but ran & 1/2 to full throttle!)

Just to be clear: "dieselling" of course, is another term for running-on. I've found that running on Optimax again has lessened Phyllis' tendency to run-on with her rebuilt head...

Yes, I bought an anti-run-on valve for an MGB (it just opens the inlet manifold to atmosphere when there is no ignition on) from the MG owners club and it did NOTHING!! Did not remove/reduce the run-on at all!
